Six room types cover solo travellers, couples, friends and families, from a 12 m² single to a 24 m² family room with two king-size beds. Every room is air-conditioned, with a private bathroom, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a tea and coffee maker, a fridge and a desk.

Georgetown Hotel sits on Jalan Larut, a short walk from the seafront at Northam Beach and about a kilometre from Komtar, the tower that doubles as the island's main bus interchange. The heritage centre of George Town, listed by UNESCO in 2008 for its shophouses and multicultural history, begins a little further east.
Penang International Airport is about 16 km away. Rapid Penang buses 401, 401E and 102 run from the arrivals hall to Komtar in around an hour, depending on traffic. From Komtar the hotel is roughly a 15-minute walk or a short ride. Grab and metered taxis wait outside the terminal, and by car the trip takes 20 to 40 minutes. Coming from the mainland, the ferry from Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim, a short walk from Butterworth station, crosses to George Town in about 20 minutes and only accepts cashless payment. From the jetty, the free CAT bus loops through Weld Quay, Fort Cornwallis and Komtar every 10 to 15 minutes. Check-in runs from 14:00 to 23:00.
Start with the heritage core. Khoo Kongsi, the largest Hokkien clanhouse in Malaysia, is 1.6 km away on Cannon Square, and the green Pinang Peranakan Mansion on Church Street is filled with Peranakan antiques. Fort Cornwallis, built by the British East India Company from 1786, is about 2 km from the hotel. For views, The Top at Komtar has observation decks on its 65th and 68th floors. Closer to home, the New World Park food court, open since 1939, is a few minutes' walk away. The Penang Botanic Gardens, with a waterfall and resident monkeys, are about 4.5 km away, and the Penang Hill funicular climbs from Air Itam to cooler air in five to ten minutes. December to February is usually the driest time to visit, while September to November brings the heaviest rain, and Chinese New Year draws big crowds.
